THE LENS – A QUARTERLY E-NEWSLETTER/JOURNAL

Letters to the Editor
From Our Readers

This is a little note to thank you and let you know that I enjoy very much receiving The Lens every three months, the articles are a reminder of several of the important things I learned through your book The Spiritual Dimensions of Leadership and that have helped me in these years in my job and life. I wish you a very successful and joyful 2010.
- Elizabeth Würfl, Quito, Ecuador

The theme of gratitude (January 2010) is heart-and-soul for me. As I watch images from Haiti, I'm so grateful for what I often take for granted — the roof above my head, the knowledge that my children have beds to sleep in, food to eat. And I'm reminded by the power of people united with a common cause, as so many work selflessly to help the Haitians. For that I am deeply grateful.

Our family has started a tradition at the dinner table, where as our grace, we hold hands and take turns saying what we're thankful for. It's so sweet to hear what's important to each of us, and helps remind us daily to practice gratitude.

Needless to say, I loved the essays, and was particularly struck by Domenico's "No Ordinary Children" and Bob's "Gratitude Large and Small." They are beautifully written.
- Erin O' Kelley Muck, Ashland, Oregon

I was very moved by the articles on gratitude and grace and would look forward to reading issues with such inspirational and motivational topics. Thank you very much.
- Carolyn Micklas, Schenectady, New York

I just finished reading the January issue of The Lens and just loved it. I'm thinking about drawing pictures of the things for which I'm grateful. Thank you for all you do to help others.
- Colleen Wilcox, Los Gatos, California

It is always refreshing to receive The Lens newsletter in my e-mail. Perhaps it is part of a broader conspiracy, but I often must lift it out from the spam filter my university has in place. In higher education today, it seems that few creative viewpoints that do not include Department of Education coding numbers have automatic clearance. What makes The Lens so valuable is its focus on human potential. We often speak about Maslow’s hierarchy, but little is practically manifest. Curiously, whenever I bring the topics found in the newsletter into the classroom with real teachers, they respond with much enthusiasm. Education needs a renewed vision for its students and teachers, as well as a role in society; The Lens boldly offers a spiritual humanistic vision that the world sorely needs.
